Can I apply?

To apply, you must be a Muslim living in the UK and be entitled to receive Zakat. To confirm that you can get help, we will look at how much money you have, your monthly income and expenses.

Grants are only available to people who fall into one of the following categories:

Have the right to live in and work in the UK (excluding full-time university students); or

Have claimed asylum in the last 3 months; or

Been refused asylum in the last 3 months

What funds can I apply for?

You can apply for support from our Zakat fund. Funds can go towards any of the following: 

a.) Housing/rent

b.) Food, travel and medicines

c.) Repayment of loans

d.) Livelihood project

How much help can I get?

The amount of help you can get depends on your family size and any debts you have. The maximum we can give you is £3,000. The help we give is a one-off grant.

How long does the application process take?

The application form takes around 20 minutes to complete. 

Once you have you sent us your application and emailed us the documents we need, we will aim to give you a decision on your application within 3 weeks.

If you do not give us all of the information and documents for your application, your application will be delayed.

What happens once I have applied?

Once you have submitted your application, please ensure you email the require documentation too. Our team will make sure that you have given us all the information and documents we need to assess your application and that you are eligible to apply for help. If there is anything you have missed, you will be asked to send it to us within 10 days. 

We will then look at how much money you have, your monthly income and expenses, as well as any debts you may have to confirm that we can help you. 

If we can give you a grant, we will email you to confirm this and arrange payment for you. If we cannot give you a grant, we will email you to tell you why.

How many times can I apply?

We can give you and your family one Zakat grant every year.

What information and documents do I need to provide?

To apply for our Zakat fund, you will need to send us the following documents to: [email protected]

-        Photo ID for you, your wife/husband and children under 18 – You can give us a copy of a passport, driving licence or other document given to you by the authorities.

-        Bank statements – We will need 3 full months of bank statements for all your bank accounts. 

-        Universal Credit – If you receive Universal Credit you will be asked to provide your most recent statement.

If you are also applying for help with small debts, you will need to give us: 

-        Debt documents – We will need statements for any money you owe on credit cards or bank loans. We will need bills for money you owe for gas and electricity. 

Depending on your situation, you will also need to give us one of the following documents: 

-        Claimed asylum in the last 3 months (for fresh asylum claims only)

1) Letter from Home Office or Immigration Tribunal dated in the last 3 months

2) ARC Card

-        Refused asylum in the last 3 months

1) Letter from Home Office or Immigration Tribunal dated in the last 3 months

Have the right to live in and work in the UK (excluding full-time university students)

For UK Citizens – British Passport

For Refugees/LTR/Spouse Visa/LTE – BRP Card/Home Office Letter/Endorsement stamp in Passport

For EU citizens/EEA nationals – EU Passport/BRP Card/EU Residency Document 

Citizens Advice Bureau - Any documents provided by the CAB
