We pray and hope you're all doing well.
We are excited to share that on Sunday 10th October, we will be running 26.2 miles as part of the Manchester Marathon, whilst supporting a cause that is very close to our hearts! Our personal experiences of playing football on a weekly basis whilst keeping ourselves hydrated with water, has taught us about the importance of health and nutrition in contributing towards a state of positive, mental and social well-being. However, for the people of Palestine it is a different story.
Just a few alarming facts:
- Globally, 785 million people lack access to clean water.
- At least 2 billion people in the world get their water from contaminated sources.
- Drinking dirty water can cause diseases such as cholera, dysentery, typhoid and diarrhoea.
- This causes around 485,000 diarrhoeal deaths every year.
Our fundraising efforts will go towards the Palestine Project as part of SKT Welfare, to provide the community in Palestine with clean and accessible water (97% of the water is undrinkable). This charity has been on the ground in Palestine for many years, thus have 2 water desalination plants in Gaza meaning £85 can provide 70,000 litres of safe, clean drinking water in Gaza for 1 day.
Note: The community will not be encouraged to take part in religious worship activities, learn or adhere to, or convert to religious beliefs of this charity. The facilities are open to the whole community and are accessible to the wider public, regardless of religious denomination or affiliation.
We are making the intention of carrying out this small act of kindness and hope that you will enjoin us by donating whatever you can. It doesn’t matter if the contribution is big or small, as each gesture not only makes the world a better place, but it may mean the world to those receiving help.
