Explosions have devastated civilian areas in Pakistan. Families are in urgent need of food, shelter, and medical care.

On the night of 6 May 2025, a series of missile strikes hit multiple locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. At least 26 civilians — including children — have been killed, with dozens more injured and numbers expected to rise.

These strikes come at a time of existing challenges, in a country already grappling with economic instability, widespread poverty, and the lasting impact of recent natural disasters.

Pakistan is where SKT Welfare began its humanitarian journey over a decade ago. Since then, we’ve delivered emergency relief during devastating floods, supported displaced families, and provided access to food, clean water, education, and healthcare.

Today, in the face of renewed tragedy, we remain steadfast in our commitment, continuing to serve, respond, and stand by the people of Pakistan.

Our teams are now on the ground working to deliver urgent support where it’s needed most.

A Statement From Asif Hussain, SKT Welfare CEO

We are deeply alarmed by the acts of violence and explosions carried out in Pakistan last night. These attacks on civilian infrastructure constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law and threaten to further destabilise an already volatile region. SKT Welfare condemns this escalation in the strongest possible terms. The targeting of civilian areas is unacceptable under any circumstances and those responsible must be held to account.

Pakistan is close to our hearts, and it is where SKT Welfare first began its humanitarian mission over a decade ago. From the earliest days of our work, we stood with Pakistan’s most vulnerable communities. we have remained steadfast in our commitment to support vulnerable communities across the country in times of recovery and in times of crisis.

Today, we stand with them again in the face of tragedy.

Our teams are already on the ground conducting a rapid needs assessment. We are in close contact with local partners and authorities to identify the most urgent needs and to coordinate a humanitarian response that upholds dignity, safety, and humanity.

We are prioritising support for displaced families and communities affected by the violence, ensuring that our response upholds dignity, protection, and compassion.

At SKT Welfare, we will not turn away. In this moment of uncertainty and fear, we remain with the people of Pakistan, just as we always have.

— Asif Hussain, SKT Welfare CEO
