Emergency Aid for Families Devastated by Deadly Flash Floods
In the early hours of 26 August 2026, a glacial ice-rock collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border sent a wall of water crashing down the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers, rising by several metres in minutes. There was no time to run, no time to save what mattered most. Whole towns in Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Dhading, and Rasuwa were wiped off the map before the sun had fully risen, taking with them homes that had stood for generations.
More than 350 people are now confirmed dead, and hundreds still missing, sons, daughters, parents, and grandparents whose loved ones are searching riverbanks in agony, clinging to hope with every passing hour. Thousands of families have lost everything: their homes, their belongings, and in many cases, the people they loved most.
Thousands of survivors are now sleeping in the open, cold, injured, and grieving, with no food, no clean water, and no medicine for their wounds. SKT teams are already on the ground responding, but the scale of suffering is growing faster than help can reach it.
