My name is Yusuf and I'm a medical student at the University of Leeds. My goal is to raise £2,000 for Syrian refugees that have been displaced in camps around Turkey. As part of this, I am committed to participating in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon in May 2024. The proceeds will enable me to join SKT's Turkey deployment, where I'll personally distribute food parcels, purchased with your generous donations, to Syrian refugees residing in camps. Allah tells us in the Quran: “The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower."[Al-Baqarah 2:261].

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no day on which the people get up but two angels come down and one of them says, ‘O Allah, give in compensation to the one who spends (in charity),’ and the other says, ‘O Allah, destroy the one who withholds.’”  Narrated by al-Bukhari, 1374; Muslim, 1010.
