On Monday 6th of February an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude hit the border of Southern Turkey and Northern Syria, at 4am local time, while people slept. This was followed by numerous aftershocks.  Buildings collapsed, many people were trapped or buried under rubble, with a current death toll of 50,000+, predicted to rise, and over 24 million people affected.  

These earthquakes occurred in the heartland of SKT Welfare, and their teams are active on the ground, helping families and orphans where most needed with medical aid, food, water, blankets, mattresses, shelter, heater and fuel.

The Muslim Forum at Barclays were deeply concerned to hear about all those affected by the earthquake and launched this fundraiser to raise donations for those in need of urgent medical assistance, food, warm clothing etc.

A courageous group of Barclays colleagues will be Climbing up the O2 Arena in London to raise funds for this appeal. Colleagues taking part include Daisy Beardon, Leesan Wong, Mandeep Dhanda, Helen Miller, Xiaorui Mao, Arshia Basha, Sandy Humphrey, Saulius Motuzis, Ewa Wiechowska, Oli Rahman, Nadeem Ahmed, Sultaan Mufid, Lorenzo Di Gennaro, Shoaib Shahid, Manuele Lorio, Muminah Razaq, Shahanara Miah, Theoni Georgopoulou and Shahid Iqbal. We encourage you all to donate generously and show your support for this groups bravery, in climbing up one of the most striking buildings in London’s skyline, whilst contributing to  this worthy cause.

SKT Welfare has a 100% donation policy and this project is both zakat and sadaqah applicable.
