The Livelihood Auto-Rickshaw Project is a sustainable income-generation initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable and low-income individuals across Pakistan. The project focuses on empowering unemployed youth, widows, and financially struggling families by providing them with auto-rickshaws, enabling them to earn a stable and dignified livelihood.
Auto-rickshaws are one of the most common and reliable modes of transportation in Pakistan’s urban and semi-urban areas. They serve thousands of commuters daily and provide a practical business opportunity for individuals with limited employment options.
Through this project, eligible beneficiaries are given access to an auto-rickshaw worth £550, allowing them to start their own small transportation business. Instead of relying on irregular or low-paying jobs, recipients gain the opportunity to generate consistent daily income while becoming financially independent.
The primary objective of this project is to break the cycle of poverty by providing a sustainable source of income. Many families in Pakistan struggle with unemployment, rising living costs, and limited opportunities. By providing an income-generating asset rather than short-term aid, this project ensures long-term financial stability for beneficiaries.
The initiative aims to:
Provide sustainable employment opportunities to unemployed individuals.
Support low-income families in becoming financially independent.
Promote dignity and self-reliance through entrepreneurship.
Reduce poverty by creating long-term livelihood solutions.
Identification of Beneficiaries
Individuals from low-income backgrounds are carefully assessed and selected based on financial need and their ability to operate the vehicle responsibly.
Provision of Auto-Rickshaw
Each selected beneficiary receives an auto-rickshaw valued at £550, which serves as their primary income-generating asset.
Basic Business Guidance
Beneficiaries receive guidance on managing their daily earnings, vehicle maintenance, and customer service to ensure they can operate their business effectively.
Ongoing Support
The project team continues to monitor beneficiaries and provide support to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of their livelihood.
An auto-rickshaw driver in Pakistan can earn a steady daily income, enabling them to cover essential household expenses such as food, rent, healthcare, and children’s education. One auto-rickshaw can support an entire family, often benefiting 5–7 family members.
Beyond individual families, the project also benefits communities by:
Improving local transportation services.
Reducing unemployment in underserved areas.
Encouraging self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship.
This project is Zakat eligible, as it directly supports individuals who fall within the categories of people entitled to receive Zakat. By donating towards this project, supporters are not only fulfilling their charitable obligation but also helping provide long-term financial empowerment rather than temporary relief.
The cost of providing one auto-rickshaw is £550. Donors can sponsor a full vehicle or contribute towards the project to help transform the lives of vulnerable individuals and their families.
Every donation helps create a lasting impact, enabling someone to move from dependency to self-reliance and from poverty to opportunity.
