For International Women’s Day 2020, we are excited to launch our new project in Pakistan empowering women and helping them break barriers, vicious cycles of poverty and become financially secure and independent.
Many women living in poverty in Pakistan lack financial independence, and do casual labour work, which doesn’t pay well and has negative effects on their health. With a lack of education and literacy, women become heavily dependent on men, and this can give rise to devastating issues such as domestic violence, dowry and forced labour.
As part of our programme, women will enrol on a course taught by expert trainers in stitching and embroidery, and given their own sewing machines for just £75.
Women will be guided on how to establish their own tailoring business from home, enabling them to generate their own income.
By setting up their own businesses, the living standard of women will improve, they will be able to eat better food, send their children to school and afford good healthcare.
